First-Time & Nervous Client FAQ
Real questions. Clear answers.
No pressure, no judgment, no surprises.
You are always in control.
If you need a break, have a question, or decide you are not ready, tell your nurse.
Comfort & Safety
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Most people describe it as a quick warm snap. Some areas are more sensitive than others, but the sensation is brief and our Candela GentleMax Pro has built-in cooling.
What if it feels too painful?
Tell us right away. Your nurse can pause at any time, check your skin, and make sure you feel comfortable before continuing.
Can laser hair removal burn me?
Burns are a possible risk with laser, which is why we assess your skin, hair, sun exposure, medications, and treatment area before treatment. If it does not look safe to treat that day, we will not push it.
I have darker skin. Can I still get laser?
Yes. The GentleMax Pro offers two wavelengths, allowing treatment to be selected based on your skin tone and hair characteristics. Your skin is evaluated before treatment.
Privacy & Body Concerns
I'm really hairy. Is that embarrassing?
Not at all. Thick, coarse, hormonal, facial, back, bikini, or ingrown hair is exactly what we treat. You never need to apologize for your body hair.
I'm nervous about getting a Brazilian. Will I be completely exposed?
Only the treatment area needs to be accessible. Your nurse will explain what is needed, protect your privacy, and stop at any time if you feel uncomfortable.
Will you judge how I look?
No. We are nurses, and our job is to provide safe, respectful care. Stretch marks, scars, pigmentation, body size, and body hair are all normal.
Before Your Appointment
Do I have to grow my hair out before laser?
No. We generally want the area shaved, not grown out. The laser targets the hair structure beneath the skin, so long visible hair is not needed.
What if I miss a spot while shaving?
It happens. Tell your nurse when you arrive. A small area may be prepared safely, or skipped if needed.
Why can't I wax or pluck before laser?
Waxing, tweezing, and threading remove hair from the root. Laser needs the follicle target present, so shaving is preferred between treatments.
Your Appointment, Your Choice
Can I ask questions during the appointment?
Absolutely. Ask what we are doing, what you may feel, or whether something is normal. There are no silly questions during your appointment.
What if I change my mind after I arrive?
That is okay. A consultation does not obligate you to proceed. You can pause or stop at any time.
What's the biggest thing a first-time client should know?
You do not need to know anything about laser before you arrive. Bring your questions, nerves, and goals, and we will guide you through the rest.
Aftercare & Special Situations
Is redness afterward normal?
Temporary redness, warmth, tenderness, or small bumps around follicles can happen after treatment. Contact us for severe pain, blistering, worsening redness, drainage, or anything that concerns you.
Can I go back to work afterward?
Usually, yes. Most people return to their normal day, although the skin may look pink or feel warm for a short time.
What if I'm taking medication or just started an antibiotic?
Tell us before treatment, even if the medication seems unrelated. Some medications or health changes can affect whether laser should be performed that day.
What if I recently got a tan?
Tell us. Recent sun exposure can increase the risk of a skin reaction. Protecting your skin is more important than keeping an appointment.
What if there is a tattoo in the treatment area?
We do not laser directly over tattoos. Your nurse will identify and avoid or protect tattooed areas during treatment.
Results & Hair Growth
Will laser make my hair grow back thicker?
Laser is intended to reduce hair growth. Many clients notice less hair, slower regrowth, and finer remaining hairs over time.
The hair is still there after my first session. Did it not work?
Treated hair does not disappear immediately. It can take days to weeks to loosen and shed, and it may briefly look like it is still growing.
Will I be completely hair-free after one appointment?
No. Hair grows in different cycles, so a series of treatments is needed. Results develop gradually rather than after one visit.
What if some areas respond faster than others?
That is normal. Hair thickness, hormones, body area, skin tone, and growth cycles all affect how quickly an area responds.
What if I have PCOS or hormonal facial hair?
You can still benefit from laser. Hormonal hair can be more persistent, so additional treatments or maintenance may be needed.
